
Lockhart High School One-Act Play advances from yesterday’s Zone Competition to District Competition March 20, 2018 with its production “August: Osage County.” They will perform at the Seguin Performing Arts Center.
The students had an outstanding performance, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats. Director Kenedi Worthington said, “I am unbelievably proud of the sacrifice and dedication my students put into this production. It has been an amazing experience watching them grow through the process!”
Lockhart brought home six awards, including one of the top awards from the overall competition-best actress. The awards were as follows:
Best Actress - Kathryn Peterson
All Star Cast Award - Clara Francis, Cassidy Wilson-Llamas
Honorable Mention All-Star Award - Chas Francis, Ella McCarthy
Outstanding Technician Award- Julie Sessum
"August: Osage County is southern-fried familial dysfunction in one lightning-fast jolt of pure theatrical electricity!" described one audience member. “The talented LHS students will wow you with a heavy helping of humor-laced drama as they perform their One-Act competition play: August: Osage County by Tracy Letts.”
The play was the recipient of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In this one-act version, they pull together the compelling elements that make for great theatre.
Come be amazed by these young actors and technicians, many of whom are active beyond school in community theater at the Gaslight Baker Theater in Lockhart. See the behind-the-scenes stage set-up as they dress the set before your eyes. Witness how well LHS cultivates young talent!
