LJHS principal announces departure for new opportunity

Principal Lori Davis

Lockhart Junior High School Principal Lori Davis announced she has been selected as the director of transformation partnerships with E3 Alliance. She will begin her new role July 8.

Davis has served as principal at LJHS for the past three years, helping to cultivate a culture of high expectations for students and staff to boost student academic growth. In her new role at E3 Alliance, she will be able to continue to positively impact student learning but with a broader reach through the organization’s focus on boosting student outcomes across Texas through data-driven educational collaboration and systemic change.

”It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as the principal of Lockhart Junior High School for these last three years,” said Davis in a letter she sent to LJHS staff and parents today. “The work, while challenging, has been very rewarding, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. The position I’ve accepted will now allow me to share this good work with schools across Texas, impacting even more students in positive ways.”

“On behalf of the district, I want to wish Ms. Davis well in her next chapter,” said Superintendent Mark Estrada. “Because of her experiences with Raise Your Hand Texas, Texas GEAR UP, collaborative work with E3 Alliance, and serving as principal of a large junior high school in a fast-growth school district,  she is well positioned to do well leading systemic improvements in education for Texas children.”

LISD leadership have invited feedback from both LJHS staff and parents through Thoughtexchange to learn what characteristics the district should consider in searching for and selecting the new principal of LJHS. Superintendent Estrada stated, “We know as leaders, when we seek feedback from the people we serve, we learn more and make better decisions. We will use the information we learn from these Thoughtexchanges to help us understand staff and parent priorities as we conduct this search.” The district leadership assured continued communication with staff and parents during the process.

The opportunity for Davis is bittersweet. She noted the departure comes with a heavy heart, ending her message stating, “Because of the great number of personal connections I have made during my time as principal, it is particularly difficult to leave my Lion family. I am grateful to each of you for your hard work and support, and I will miss you. I wish the Lions of LJHS and LISD the very best, knowing that the future holds amazing opportunities for each and every one of you!  I will be following your journey with pride--forever #LJHProud!”
