LISD Board formally hires Estrada as superintendent
The LISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously at a special called meeting Tuesday morning to formally hire Mark Estrada as the district’s new superintendent of schools. The Board named Estrada as lone finalist to lead the fast-growth school district at a meeting on June 11, kicking off a required 21-day waiting period before formally hiring the lone finalist.

Estrada assumes the helm immediately, which brings Kimberly Brents’ term as interim superintendent to a close. She began her term after former Superintendent Susan Bohn’s departure in early June.
“I am truly honored to serve as Lockhart ISD’s superintendent. In collaboration with the Board of Trustees, staff, and parents, I look forward to ensuring that every student and staff member in Lockhart ISD is challenged, healthy, engaged, safe, and supported,” said Estrada. “I would also like to recognize Deputy Superintendent Kimberly Brents for providing steady leadership as the interim superintendent. We are grateful for her service during the transition.”
The school district will host a meet and greet reception Wednesday, July 11, at the Lockhart High School Library from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. The entire community is invited to attend.
