As the superintendent of Lockhart ISD, it is my privilege to serve the students, staff, and community associated with our innovative, fast-growth school district.

With over 5,900 students and over 700 staff, the opportunities for both are limited only by our concept of success. For this reason, our district leadership sets high expectations for ourselves, our staff, and our students. Together, we are building a legacy of excellence.

In district leadership, LISD fosters a culture of continuous learning. Our administrators actively seek training and educational advancement to stay connected with current research and best practices in leadership and education. Innovation and risk-taking is encouraged. Bold goal-setting is required.

Our staff participate in professional development that is intentional and targeted to provide them with the best tools to ensure they are teaching effectively. We celebrate and reward their successes as well as provide support and coaching when they face challenges.

Our students are challenged, healthy, engaged, safe, and supported.

Students are challenged to achieve highly with access to opportunities such as advanced and dual-credit courses, Career and Technology (CTE) courses, and technology. We expect our staff to facilitate learning that helps students experience 1.5 years of growth within a school year.

Students are healthy. The research shows healthy students have higher attendance rates and academic achievement. Knowing this, LISD provides nutritious meals, including breakfast in the classrooms, health services in partnership with our nurses and wellness programs, and mental health services in partnership with our counselors and community partner Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.

Students are engaged. It is important for every student to feel connected to school. LISD provides opportunities for participation in special events, clubs, UIL activities, and leadership.

Students are safe. The safety of students, as well as our staff, is the number one priority for the school district. We have a strong partnership with the Lockhart Police Department and continue to monitor and evaluate practices and technology to improve safety.

Students are supported. Each one of our students has strengths, and each has opportunities for growth. We do not see mistakes or struggles as failures; we see them as opportunities and signals for us to provide the individualized and comprehensive supports students need to achieve success.

I am excited about what we are working towards together and am very proud of the Lockhart community, which provides tremendous support on this journey.

Welcome to Lockhart ISD!
