It is a great time to be a Lockhart Lion!

Our students are thriving in a culture of high expectations, demonstrating growth in academics, fine arts, extracurricular activities, and in college and career preparedness.

In LISD, we are preparing students for a future we cannot even begin to conceive, but we know for them to be future-ready, we must educate the whole child. We provide rigorous academic experiences, but we also nurture their creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and social-emotional well-being to prepare our Lions for promising futures.

In LISD, we grow every single student by 1.5 years per year in reading and math, from our students who need foundational support to our most accelerated learners. This commitment is shared across the district by our LISD Board of Trustees, LISD leadership team, teachers, staff, parents, and the community, and our operations and allocation of resources are closely aligned with this shared goal.

In LISD, we understand it is important to grow our staff and ourselves as leaders so we can be our best selves for our students and our team. As a Holdsworth Center school district, we are working to build a pipeline of leadership within the school district to ensure excellence and equity for all Lions. As a learning organization, we are committed to continuous learning and improvements--for ourselves, our teams, and especially for our students.

As more people learn about the incredible opportunities in LISD and our community, we continue to experience tremendous growth. Last fall, the school district had record student enrollment with 6,120 students. As a fast-growth school district, we expect those numbers to increase this year. In LISD, we take great care to ensure we are maximizing our existing resources to most effectively serve our learners. We have also been working over the summer with the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee--comprised of community members, staff, and parents--to help chart the course for the district’s next steps in preparing for the expected continued growth.

I am very excited to see what we achieve together this school year and thank you for your support.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at Mark.Estrada@lockhart.txed.net.
